Main Characters

Cloud Strife- A mercanary for hire from the town of Nibelheim. Cloud is willing to do any job as long as he gets paid. He is always seen carrying the buster sword.

Tifa Lockhart- Cloud's childhood friend. Tifa meets Cloud in Midgar when he agrees to take the job with AVALANCHE.

Aeris Gainsborough- A flower girl from the Sector 5 slums and the last surviving Cetra. She mets Cloud in the slums whn he buys a flower from her.

Barret Wallace- A coal miner from Corel and now leader of AVALANCHE. Barret has a short temper and swears a lot. He has a daughter, Marlene. Barret's arm was replaced with a gun after an incident in Corel.

Cid Highwind- A pilot who lives in Rocket Town. He was supposed to be the first man in space but his dream was wrecked when the rocket malfunctioned. He is known for his short temper and coloful vocabulary.

Red XIII/Nanaki- A lion-like creature from Cosmo Canyon. He grew up hating his father thinking he was a cowrd but his grandfather, Bugenhagen, changed his mind after telling Nanaki the truth of his father and taking him to all that remained of his father, Seto. He has a distinct tattoo on his arm of the roman numeral XIII.

Yuffie Kisaragi- A ninja girl from Wutai. Yuffie is a thief who steals people's materia. She has great pride in her country even after they lost the Shin-Ra/Wutai war.

Vincent Valentine- An ex-Turk. Cloud finds Vincent in a coffin in the Shin-Ra basement. He has a deep, dark past with Shin-Ra and Hojo which is uncovered by traveling to Lucrecia's cave.

Cait Sith- A fortune telling robot you find in the Gold Saucer. You later find out he is but a Shin-Ra spy created by Reeve but he still remains a valuable ally.

Sephiroth- An ex-SOLDIER. Sephiroth used to be looked at as a war hero due to his actions in the war. He is now being persued by Shin-Ra and AVALANCHE.

Rufus Shinra- The new President on Shin-Ra due to his father's death. Rufus believes in controling the people through fear. He always wears a white suit and carrries a unique gun. During most of the game his goals are hunting down Sephiroth and AVALANCHE.

Other Characters

President Shinra- President of Shinra. He believed in controling people through lies and money. He was murdered by Sephiroth.

Reeve Tsuetsui Head of Shin_ra's Urban Development and creator of Cait Sith. Reeve isn't as cold blooded and cruel as the other heads of Shin-Ra and helps evacuate Midagr when meteor arrives. He also help Cloud and the gang a few times as well.

Tseng- Head of the Turks. Tseng cares deeply for the Turks working under him. And he likes Aeris.

Reno- A member of the Turks. Reno is the fastest of the Turks and the most laid back and unprofessional as well. He uses an EMR(electro magnetic rod) as a weapon.

Rude- A member of the Turks. Rude is the strngest of the Turks and one of the more serious members as well. He is always seen wearing sunglasses. His fighting stance resembles that of a boxer. In Gongaga rude states he has a crush on Tifa.

Elena- One of the newest members of the Turks. Elena takes her work very seriously. She has a deep liking for Tseng and blames Cloud when Tseng is injured at the temple.

Hojo- Head of Shin-Ra's research division. Hojo likes to use living creatures for his experiments. For example: Sephiroth, Cloud, Zack, Aeris, Nanaki. His research is his only concerns.

Zack- Zack was with Cloud the day Nibelheim burned to the ground. He died protecting Cloud. To see a flash back of this just go to Shin-Ra basement on Disc 3 or end of Disc 2.

Elmyra Gainsborough Aeris's adopted mother. Elmyra's husband went off to war and never returned. She was soon notified by Shin-Ra that her husband died in battle. During this time she adopted Aeris when Aeris's mother, Ifalna, died in front of the train station.
