Battle System
Final Fantasy VII used an Active Time Battle, or ATB, battle system. Basically you take turns fighting. Your party member(s) will attack the enemy then the enemy attacks you. The materia you could use changed the way your part could attack the enemy and gives you more options on how to attack. Such as you can use summon magic, magic, death blow, your regular attack could be changed in to double slash.
