The main character. A 1st Class SOLDIER from Gongaga, Zack's goal is to become the strongest SOLDIER there is. Zack despises killing and those who have no regard for life. |

A Shin-Ra MP. He looks up to both Zack and Sephiroth. He was with them on the day Nibelheim burned to the ground. Sephiroth- The strongest 1st Class SOLDIER in Shin-Ra. Sephiroth is known as a war hero to most people due to his actions in the Shin-Ra/Wutai war. He loses his sanity when he figured out the experiments done on him. |

Aerith |
A flower girl from the Sector 5 slums. She is the last remaining Cetra. Aerith and Zack dated for a short amount of time. Her and Zack made a promise before his leave to Nibelheim. |

Angeal |
A highly respected member of SOLDIER and the original owner of the buster sword. Zack served under Angeal's command until becoming a 1st Class SOLDIER. |

Genesis |
A possible prototype of Sephiroth. His origins date back before Sephiroth. He is in some way connected to Deep Ground. By the time of Final Fantasy VII, all evidence of him has been destroyed and covered up with the exception of 3 brief records. |

A member of the turks. Tseng was ordered to clean up the Nibelheim incident and to hunt down Zack and Cloud. |

President of Shin-Ra Inc. He will do anything to increase his wealth. He believes in controling people through money and lies. |

Hojo |
Head of Shin-Ra's Rearch Department. He is responsibe for the experiements done on Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth, and Genesis. His only concerns are for his research and he will do anything and go anywhere if it means continuing his research |
